Edo NMA is in crisis as stakeholders suspend the chairman, deputy, and secretary

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) chapter in Edo State is in crisis after the AGM ordered the suspension of the chapter's chairman, Dr. Udoka Imoisili, deputy chairman, Dr. Okwara Benson, and secretary, Dr. Collins Otoikhila. This is purportedly because they refused to carry out their constitutional obligations.
This was said in a statement made following the AGM/SC, which was held at the Doctors House in Benin City, Edo State.
 AGM voted to suspend the trio of Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and Secretary for failing to perform their constitutional duties, according to the statement signed by Dr. Iluobe Inegbenosun, Acting Chairman, and Dr. Emeka Okoh, public relations officer.

The suspension of the Chairman, Dr. Udoka Imoisili, Deputy Chairman, Dr. Benson Okwara, and Secretary, Dr. Collins Otoikhila, was approved by a majority of 120 members in a secret ballot.The suspended officers must turn over the association properties they are in possession of to the Ag Chairman within 48 hours of this meeting, while the Deputy Secretary, Dr. Inegbenosun, will take over as Ag Chairman, NMA Edo State, immediately.The association's committees were all established at a dishonest and illegal State Executive Council (SEC) meeting where a quorum was not formed and the attendance list was falsified, the members of the association realized. The AGM decided to dissolve all the committees as a result.

"The Suspended Chairman drafted the financial report with little to no assistance from the Financial Secretary. The financial report contained multiple errors, and a total of fN54,847,067.48 was spent in less than a year without any discernible project and without being audited. Therefore, the AGM decided to remove the financial report.The AGM voiced its disappointment with Dr. Udoka Imoisili, the suspended chairman, for failing to stand with ARD members in Edo State during the NARD strike. The Ag Chairman gave the AGM his assurance that Edo NMA will continue to assist all of its members, including the ARD. 

In response, the embattled NMA Chairman and Secretary, as well as officers of the Edo NMA, accused some members of following a predetermined script with the intention of spreading disorder and pandemonium in the association.
 The Deputy Secretary and the PRO have been misrepresenting themselves as the Acting Chairman and Acting Secretary with the intention of misleading the doctors in Edo State, which is the most offensive and disrespectful action taken by these people.
