Femi Adebayo, a renowned actor and producer from Nigeria, has discussed how his faith influenced the creation of his successful film Jagun Jagun.
In a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Adebayo answered questions from reporters and revealed that he had sold some of his properties to raise the money needed for the film's development.
The actor, better known by his stage name Jelili, said that the production of Jagun Jagun cost billions of naira.
Adebayo disclosed that he combined earnings from the sale of his assets and the 2022 film, King Of Thieves (Agbeshinkole), to finance the production of the film.
"Jagun Jagun is a multi-billion naira project, so I can't disclose how much I specifically spent on the filming.
"I created Jagun Jagun using the Agbeshinkole sales revenue. I was trying to avoid being supported by financial institutions and private individuals.
When I ran out of money, I sold my houses because I was confident the initiative would succeed.
The talented actor also discussed some of the challenges that were faced throughout the film's production.
"We created the warrior school from the ground up. We had to take on the challenge of buying the land because we desired to be its owners. And at one point, we reached an arrangement and paid for it, but the land's owner's children later decided against the sale.
"The kids from Lagos told us to cease building the school halfway through. When we went to the police station and Obas appealed to them, they were ready to destroy everything we had made and had kept us from moving for over a week. We were then advised to only shoot there and not buy it.
Adebayo stated, "I wanted to bring along a societal message to the youths, which is what inspired the movie.
