A 22-year-old man, Osmudiammen Johnbull, who was nabbed for armed robbery in Edo State, claimed that he was a scapegoat for his friend. Johnbull and other alleged criminals were caught in Ohah community with a homemade gun, six bullets and three phones. Johnbull explained, “I was apprehended at my junction over a lost phone in the area.
The owner suspected my friend of taking the phone. The police found these items in my friend’s room. I showed them his house but he escaped and left his door unlocked.
The police raided his room and seized the items. I was unaware that my friend was an armed robber, and I had no connection to the stolen phone.”
The Edo State police spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, stated that Johnbull guided the police to their weapons cache where they recovered two more homemade guns, six live bullets and three phones. He added that the police were working to capture the other suspects on the run.
