Some villages in Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State were gripped by fear as troops searching for bandits torched some herders’ camps. Samaila Adamu, a resident of Janjala community, told our reporter on Monday that people in Kuchimi, Taka Lafiya, Kuku and Gidan Makeri under Kagarko Chiefdom were leaving their homes because of the troops’ operation.
He said the troops had been moving from one community to another since last Friday and setting fire to Fulani settlements, which caused panic among the villagers.
Awwalu Bala, a resident of Taka Lafiya, said he had to move out from the community to nearby Janjala to avoid being caught off guard. He said, “The bandits use some of these communities as their paths and hideouts, so the troops are hunting them down and burning Fulani settlements.
If you go to Janjala, you will see that many people from neighbouring affected villages are seeking shelter here as troops are still around.” The Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansur Hassan, could not be reached and did not respond to an SMS asking about the situation
