10 suspects arrested over death of a student

On Thursday, the Ekiti State Police Command announced that 10 individuals had been detained in relation to the death of Modupe Deborah, a student at the Federal University of Oye Ekiti.


DSP Abutu Sunday, the command's public relations officer, announced the change via the command's X (previously Twitter) profile.

Sunday stated that on September 5, 2023, the school's late 200-level nursing student was reported missing while on campus.

Deborah's body was discovered in a shallow grave around 30 meters behind the nursing lecture hall, according to the PRO.

"This is to inform the public that the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Ogundare Dare, has ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the death of one Atanda Modupe Deborah, a 200-level nursing student of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), who was declared missing within the school grounds on September 5, 2023, but found dead in a shallow grave about 30 meters behind the nursing Lecture Hall," Sunday said.

He assured them that the police would make sure the criminals would face the full force of the law.

"While urging everyone to maintain their composure, the commissioner promises that the command will use all available resources to identify the perpetrator(s) and make sure they are brought to justice fully.
