Florida School Uproar Leads Italy to Invite Viewing 'David'
A Florence museum on Sunday invited parents and students from a Florida charter school to view Michelangelo’s “David” in person after the school principal was forced to resign following parental complaints that an image of the nude Renaissance masterpiece was shown to a sixth-grade art class.
Florence Mayor Dario Nardella also tweeted an invitation for the principal to visit so he can personally honor her. Confusing art with pornography was “ridiculous,” Nardella said.
The incredulous Italian response highlights how the U.S. culture wars are often perceived in Europe, where despite a rise in right-wing sentiment and governance, the Renaissance and its masterpieces, even its naked ones, are generally free of controversy.
The Italians are responding to the board of the Tallahassee Classical School forcing Principal Hope Carrasquilla to resign last week. The school has a policy requiring parents to be notified in advance about “controversial” topics being taught.

World Governing Body Votes to Exclude Trans Women Athletes
World Athletics has banned transgender women from competing in elite female competitions if they have gone through male puberty, the sport's governing body said on Thursday.
The council also voted to tighten restrictions on athletes with Differences in Sex Development (DSD), cutting the maximum amount of plasma testosterone for athletes in half, to 2.5 nanomoles per liter from five.
The tighter rules will impact DSD athletes such as two-times Olympic 800 meter champion Caster Semenya, Christine Mboma, the 2020 Olympic silver medalist in the 200m, and Francine Niyonsaba, who finished runner-up to Semenya in the 800 at the 2016 Olympics.
Xi snubbed Putin after their summit, calling a meeting of Central Asian countries as part of an audacious power play
Xi invited the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to the first China-Central Asia summit on Wednesday, the AFP news agency reported. It remains unclear whether Turkmenistan has been invited.
The states are all former members of the Soviet Union, and Moscow has long regarded them as being in its sphere of influence after the Russian Empire conquered them in the 19th century.
The move came as Xi was visiting Putin in Moscow as part of a three-day-summit that concluded Wednesday, in which the nations pledged to deepen and extend their cooperation — and Xi signaled that Russia would have continued Chinese backing in its invasion of Ukraine.

Being unable to juggle two tasks simultaneously has been recognized as a sign of mental (or "cognitive") decline after age 65, but this research shows that the ability actually starts to fall off in middle-age. The finding could spur calls for earlier screening, researchers say.
"The ability to maintain walking performance while performing another task, a common scenario of walking in daily life, starts to decline in the middle of the sixth decade of lifespan," said lead researcher Junhong Zhou. He's an assistant scientist at the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research at Harvard Medical School, in Boston.

Symptoms of endometriosis and how you can manage the pain

Endometriosis is a chronic disorder that usually affects the pelvic cavity and can cause severe pain during sex and menstruation.
Women are usually diagnosed in their 30s and 40s. And it most commonly occurs when tissue begins to grow outside the uterus, forming lesions that cause pain and inflammation.
To treat endometriosis, medication, alone, can sometimes help. But if medication isn't enough, surgery to remove the lesions along with medication is also an option.

Why do smart people fall short of their potential?
I’ve read a story once of a man called Thomas Fuller. Thomas wasn’t his given name when he was born, nor was his last name Fuller — born around 1710, the was snatched up and sold as a slave in 1724, aged fourteen. From there on out, until the end of his days, he was a piece of human property.
No one ever bothered to teach Fuller how to read or write. He remained illiterate his entire life. He nonetheless had tremendous brainpower — he could count like no other, out of the top of his head. Like Dustin Hoffman’s character in the film Rain Man, the enslaved man could solve incredibly complex sums and equations in his head and do so rapidly. The tribe to which Fuller had belonged, known as the Bassari, famously used to have "specialists who were trained in the memorization of sums”. It is likely that as a child, before being enslaved, he was trained as one.
The strategy for self-confidence?
1. TALK SLOWLY
People who feel they aren't worthy of being listened to tend to talk quickly.
They think what they have to say isn't important. So ensure that you aren't rushing. Be calm!
2. ACCOMPLISH SMALL GOALS
Try making your bed in the morning. If you do this regularly, you will have accomplished the first task of the day.
It will give you a small sense of pride and not be afraid to try again or make the next tough decision.
3. WALK 25% FASTER
Observe carefully, and you discover that body action is result of mind action.
Throw your shoulders back, lift up your head, move ahead a little faster, and feel self-confidence grow.

Here are some inspiring words from Albert Einstein:
“I didn't arrive at my understanding of the fundamental laws of the universe through my rational mind.”
“Concerning matter, we have been all wrong. What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. Matter is spirit reduced to point of visibility. There is no matter.”
"Time and space are not conditions in which we live, but modes by which we think.
Physical concepts are free creations of the human mind, and are not, however it may seem, determined by the external world."
“Time does not exist – we invented it. Time is what the clock says. The distinction between the past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”
“I think 99 times and find nothing. I stop thinking, swim in silence, and the truth comes to me."
"The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or what you will, the solution comes to you and you don’t know how or why.”
"A human being experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
What are some secret things that women will never tell men?
- Unlike men, women are not primarily driven by looks. Most often than not, we will decide if we are attracted to a man because of how that man makes us feel.
- Our heart jumps every time we see your name in the notification of our post (like, comment)
- Not all the time, we like to be dependent on you. Sometimes we like to support you financially as well as mentally.
- We feel special when you remember small details about us.
- We love it when you open up to us, when you tell us about your fears, your worst problems, your inner demon. It makes us feel that we are really important to you.
- We are possessive by nature. We easily get jealous when we see you talking with other girls.
- We know how we look, still, we ask you because we love it when you appreciate our beauty.
- We find intelligence without arrogance sexy. It’s extremely sexy when a man knows how to maintain his intelligence without riding a high horse in the process.

Soldier shoots Okada man, kills nursing mother, baby over N200
By Abubakar Hussain, Minna
A soldier has reportedly shot a commercial motorcycle rider and his passenger, a nursing mother and her baby, in Babanna community in Borgu LGA of Niger State.
Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened on Monday evening when the victims were returning home from the Babanna weekly market.
Residents said that the soldier fired a gunshot at the commercial motorcycle rider for refusing to pay the N200 bribe he demanded and that the bullets penetrated his stomach and hit the woman he was carrying, as well as the baby on her back.
A resident, Saidu Babanna, said, “One of the soldiers deployed in Babanna to protect lives and property shot three people because of a N200 bribe. When the victims were entering Babanna in the morning, soldiers collected N200 from them at their checking point, and when they were returning from Babanna to Nigangi in Benin Republic, the soldiers demanded another N200 from them, which they couldn’t afford to pay. That was what led to a soldier opening fire and killing the three people on a motorcycle on the spot.”
Another resident who didn’t want his name mentioned said, “The incident happened on Monday evening. The Babanna market is on Mondays. The victims were returning home from the market. When they were coming in the morning, there were many soldiers at the Benin Republic border who stopped them and collected N200 from them. So, when they were going back, the same soldiers stopped them again and demanded N200 again, which the Okada man refused to give. They started arguing and the Okada man kicked his motorcycle and zoomed off and a soldier also kicked another motorcycle and followed him until he overtook him. He then fired the gun and bullets penetrated the stomach of the motorcycle rider and hit the woman he was carrying, killing the woman and the baby instantly.”
He said the soldier was arrested and taken to the 221 Battalion, Kainji, New-Bussa, Borgu LGA, following a call to military authorities by the district head.
He said the woman and her baby died on the spot while the Okada man was responding to treatment in a hospital in Benin Republic.
Another source said, “It was the arrest of the soldier and the intervention of the district head that saved the situation from degenerating into a fracas between youths and soldiers.”
Effort to get the reaction of the Niger State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, was not successful.
But the chairman of Borgu LGA of Niger State, Alhaji Suleiman Yarima, confirmed the incident, saying the woman and her baby died but that the motorcyclist survived and he is receiving treatment at a hospital in Parakou in Benin Republic.
‘’The victims are from Benin Republic, who came to the market in Babanna to shop. It’s a weekly market. The bodies were taken to Benin Republic and can’t confirm their burial for now. However, investigation is ongoing,’’ he said in a text message sent to our reporter late yesterday.

Ancient palace of Spain
Palazzo Valguarnera-Gangi
Palermo, Sicily, Italy
In the year of grace 1735 on the 3rd of July in the Cathedral of Palermo the end of the Habsburg rule was officially sanctioned, at only eighteen, Charles III of Bourbon was crowned Rex Utriusque Siciliae (King of the Sicilies).
From this moment on, the Spanish Crown will do everything to strengthen ties with the local feudal class, developing and promoting new relations with the Sicilian aristocracy, which had the need to have “dignified” abode in the city to better exercise its own power. Palermo becomes a construction site, and among the local aristocrats a real competition begins in building sumptuous homes, making them a symbol of their prestige and their rank, as well as their immense wealth.
Many of the Palazzos that survived the neglect and bombs of 1943 are still there to make a fine show of themselves, but one in particular, located in the heart of the historic centre of Palermo, has had the privilege of crossing the centuries unscathed by wars or anything else, preserving itself both in the architectural structure and in the interiors, including the furnishings, it is the Palazzo Valguarnera Gangi.
As soon as you cross the threshold you are in front of an enfilade of halls for a total of 8000 square meters: the red hall, the blue one, the dining room, the ballroom , the hall of gilded mirrors with the Vietri ceramic floor, painted with flowers and animals including the leopards and also a beautiful terrace, overflowing with ceramics from Caltagirone, from which you can admire the facade of the church of Sant’Anna.
Inside, the rooms are full of precious objects, embroidered tapestries, glassware and porcelain, not to mention all the original furnishings with sofas, consoles, carved chairs, decorated walls, boiseries, doors painted in gold and tall mirrors.
Palazzo Gangi represents a very high moment of Italian Rococo. Over the centuries, the house has remained intact up to the current owners, the Vanni Mantegna of San Vincenzo, who took over the ownership of the palace, by inheritance, in 1995. Today, the Princess Carine Vanni Mantegna of Gangi opens its doors telling the story room by room.

What is the worst disease one can get?
A diagnosis
Among the worst diseases are those that tell you, once diagnosed, that you only have so much time, whatever the doctors try. That even with a medical miracle, your days are counted.
Stage 4 cancers fall into this category.
You often don’t see or feel them coming. They could have been reaping inside you for five to ten years, before the first signs occur.
Innocent signs. Little lumps that could mean nothing. Little brown irregular dots on your skin. A cough that doesn’t go away. A sorrow throat. Tiredness.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY AND DEED OF ASSIGNMENT IN NIGERIA

The difference between a Certificate of Occupancy and a Deed of Assignment can be derived from their distinct features and the role they each individually play in the acquisition of title to landed properties in Nigeria.
Certificate of Occupancy
A Certificate of Occupancy is an authorized document of grant issued by the State Government to confer ownership and right of occupancy in a definite land for all purposes to an individual, group of individuals, or corporate bodies for a term of 99years.
Section 9 of the Land Use Act 1978 empowers the State Governor of the state in Nigeria where the land is located to issue the certificate of occupancy. The Section provides that “it shall be lawful for the Governor when a person is entitled to a statutory right of occupancy; to issue a Certificate under is hand in evidence of such right of occupancy”.

Is Obidient a movement or political party
By Musa Yusuf
No! The Obedient is not a political party. It is a movement inspired by youths to compel the government to stop the impunity of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit that culminated in the #EndSARS protest.
I suggest obedience should be a force to correct and criticize any action or inaction of our government. It should be a group of people (not just youth) whose positive action is taken upon themselves individually and collectively towards bringing patriotic people into government.

Who is the most badass mathematician ever?
I will go for the chosen one. Because he is better. “Maybe the best there ever was” (quoting Jean-Pierre Serre).
Now he was not mesmerized by a beautiful woman, spending his last night writing up his final thoughts before being fatally shot in a duel. (Galois.)
He also did not die young after having caught TBC. (Ramanujan.)
He was not a womanizer with many kids shared with many women, did not become schizophrenic, and did not end up as a recluse after throwing a part of his mathematical writings away in a bonfire. (Grothendieck.)
He wasn’t — and isn’t — any of this.

My Thoughts On What Happened In The Court Today....
By Charles Awuzie.
It's bad news - and also good news. Be patient as I explain.
Yes, the court granted INEC permission to RECONFIGURE BVAS devices.
That's the bad news.
The court took this decision because INEC filed an affidavit before the court claiming that the information on BVAS can not be tampered with or lost. This is not true. Any Data 'can' be 'tampered' with.
Unfortunately, the legal team of Peter Obi did NOT challenge this affidavit - and the court let INEC have their way.
