The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his admiration for all the Nigerian artists who were nominated for the Grammy Awards, the highest honour in the music industry. He said they have made the nation proud with their exceptional talent and achievements.

In a message posted on his official X handle on Monday, Sanwo-Olu gave a special shoutout to Burna Boy, Davido, Ayrastarr, Asake, and all other Nigerian nominees. He said they have reached unparalleled heights on the global stage, displaying world-class talent that Nigerians are immensely proud of.

He also encouraged those who did not win their nominations to not lose hope, but to remember that they are everlasting winners in the eyes of their fans and Nigerians. He said they have represented Afrobeat and Nigeria in an unparalleled way, and that they will soon light up the stages they desire as triumphant victors.

He concluded by wishing them more timeless moments as they continue to tell the world their stories with their music.

According to Ishieldpoint, a South African singer, Tyla, emerged as the winner of the Best African Music Performance category at the 2024 Grammys, which was held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. She beat four Nigerian artists, Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, and Arya Starr, who were nominated in the same category, along with another South African artist, Olamide. Burna Boy and Davido had four and three nominations respectively, while Asake, Arya Starr, and Olamide had one nomination each. However, none of the Nigerian quintets won their nominations on Sunday.
