A group of women from the Diobu area of Port Harcourt staged a peaceful protest at the PHED office on Tuesday, expressing their frustration over the lack of power supply in their area. They claimed that the heat waves caused by the power outage had affected their marital intimacy, food preservation, and business activities.

The protesters walked through various streets, holding placards that read "No light, no payment" and "The heat is too much". They voiced their grievances and demanded better service from PHED. Maria Ike, the leader of the group, said, "We want the world to know how PHED is making us suffer. We pay our bills every month, but we get no electricity. The heat is affecting our relationships with our husbands, our food gets spoiled, and our businesses are being ruined because of the power failure. This is hurting our families."

She added that they would not pay for darkness and threatened to return for another protest if the situation did not change. Livingstone Koko, the PHED spokesman, responded that the power supply problem was not specific to their area, but a national issue. He assured that the company was working hard to improve the power situation in the state.
