Gunmen shot a police inspector and free seven inmates in Imo

Gunmen have killed a police inspector and released seven inmates in an attack on the Okigwe Correctional Farm Settlement in Umualomoke, Okigwe, Imo State.

The gunmen also attacked the residence of Senator Patrick Ndubeze in Okigwe and abducted the officer in charge of the farm settlement.

The attack was allegedly carried out by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed the command's Special Tactical Squad to collaborate with the military and other security agencies in hunting down the suspected IPOB/ESN operatives. Danjuma has instructed that the abducted officer be rescued unharmed and the escaped inmates be apprehended and brought to justice.
