Barrister Mukhtar Shehu Shagari, the lone surviving member of the erstwhile Sokoto State PDP chapter and a former minister of water resources, has switched his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shagari, who worked for former president Olusegun Obasanjo, was a PDP pillar for more than 25 years.
But in August, he made the decision to join the APC, which sparked a lot of debate in the political world.
Despite his long-standing devotion, some think that Shagari's defection is the result of what he views as unfair treatment by the PDP national leadership.
In recent years, many of his contemporaries, including former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have done the same.
Shagari officially switched parties, according to state APC secretary Alhaji Abubakar Yabo, putting to rest rumors that the seasoned politician might remain.
