Why Obaseki meets Wike over Asue Ighodalo candidacy

Asue Ighodalo, who is vying for the PDP governorship ticket in Edo State, got the backing of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, who met with Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, in Abuja on Tuesday night.

The meeting, which was also attended by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, who accompanied Obaseki, was held at Wells Carlton Hotel, Abuja. Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, commented on the meeting, saying that it was a good thing to try to bring everyone on board, if the meeting was true.

Man suspected to be thief electrocuted in Edo

A man was on Monday electrocuted while allegedly attempting to steal transformer cables in Jattu community in Etsako West LGA of Edo State.
A source said residents woke up in the morning to see the corpse of the suspect dangling on two electric poles where a transformer was sited.
The victim, it was learnt, had cut the cable beneath the transformer, packed it aside and climbed up the electric pole to cut the four long cables that connect light to the transformer to the low tension wire.
He added that officials of BEDC came and evacuated the corpse.
The spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.

14 cultism, suspected robbery paraded by police in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has paraded 14 suspects arrested allegedly for various crimes.
Parading the suspects, the command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said the suspects were arrested for cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, murder and being in possession of firearms.
Chidi said six of the suspects were arrested for cultism, seven for kidnapping and for murder.
He listed the items recovered from them to include a locally made gun, 12 cartridges and one gas cylinder.
